It was back on just March 15th that Louisville, in the AAC Tournament title game, defeated UConn handily for the third time this season. Fast forward two weeks and it’s the Huskies, not the Cardinals, who are advancing to the Final Four. And though their opponent, the Florida Gators, haven’t lost a game since December 2nd, there is room for optimism. That Gators loss came to UConn. The two are set for a rematch this Saturday, with a heck of a lot more on the line.

Prediction: Simply put, Florida fans cannot be thrilled to see UConn coming out of the East region of this year’s bracket. The Gators lost just two games all year, but one was to the Huskies, meaning they are going to be far from intimidated. Shabazz Napier is also playing at an elite level right now, and UF will need to shut him down to avoid being upset.
That being said, Florida is a different team than the one that lost back in early December. Scottie Wilbekin, the SEC Player of the Year, has emerged into one of the best point guards in the country. The Gators ran off 21 straight victories against SEC teams and haven’t looked any different in the first four games of the NCAA Tournament. We’ll take UF – and get this. If the Gators prevail, it’s entirely possible that they get the only other team that beat them this season – Wisconsin.
