UConn women’s basketball great Maya Moore is now a victim of one of the silliest crimes in recent memory. After an illustrious career with the Huskies, leading them to two NCAA Championship victories, Maya went on to help the USA women’s Olympic team win the gold medal in 2012.
But recently, her Olympic ring went missing. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, some guy named Jamaal Dontray Taylor stole the ring, declared himself an Olympian while trying to sell the ring to a mall jeweler, and even showed his I.D. to the aforementioned jeweler. His asking price for the priceless ring? $144.
Luckily for Moore and unluckily for Taylor, the jeweler called the cops and had the ring thief arrested. Ridiculous crimes like this just don’t pay.
