If you’re a big college football fan, you’ve heard of Memphis quarterback Jacob Karam. And while his talents on playing field are considerable, he’s arguably more impressive playing the piano. Karam is putting his gifts to good use at the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.
CBS Sports’ Gregg Doyel posted an incredibly inspirational article yesterday that details Karam’s willingness to spend his free time visiting sick children at the hospital. Recently, Karam was asked by the staff to pay attention to one patient in particular, Breanna Bercegeay. From CBS Sports:
He comes back every month or two, telling nobody at Memphis, just showing up at the cafeteria area of Target House. Some days he’ll play a kid’s favorite song on the piano. Some days he sits alone, playing background music while families eat, or he’ll do arts and crafts with kids. One time he helped move boxes. Whatever they need.
When he showed up on Monday night, they didn’t point him to the boxes. They pointed him to the little girl.
What happened next is nothing short of amazing. For those wondering, Karam is so talented that he learned to play Jessie J’s “Price Tag” simply from listening to Breanna sing it…
Of course, the video has since gone viral, though through nobody at Memphis’ doing. Breanna’s family posted the footage on Facebook. Pretty awesome, if you ask me.
