Dabo Swinney will be rooting for the Seminoles in their opener against Alabama.
Florida State will take on Alabama in a heavy weight showdown to kick off the college football season, and Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney will be cheering for the Seminoles in the contest.
When asked who he’d be rooting for, he didn’t beat around the bush.

Rooting for an ACC rival? Blasphemous! (Though to be fair, rooting for Alabama might be just as blasphemous). But it makes sense when you take the selection committee and the ranking system into account. When the Tigers take on Florida State on November 11, they want the Seminoles to be as highly-ranked as possible because a win looks better against a No. 1 FSU squad than a No. 2, 3 or 4 squad. A win—or even a close loss—looks better for Clemson in that circumstance.
