Just over two months ago, Chad Kelly, then a quarterback on Clemson’s roster, was booted from the Tigers program after a number of incidents deemed by head coach Dabo Swinney to be “conduct detrimental to the team”. This past Sunday, it’s been reported by BamaOnline that Kelly visited Alabama, a school that recruited him back in high school, despite his plans to attend East Mississippi Community College this fall.
Kelly may come with baggage, but he was a 4-star quarterback recruit coming out of high school. Alabama will have the services of both Jacob Coker and Blake Sims this season, but Sim’s eligibility runs out after the 2014 campaign. Could Kelly be a backup option for Nick Saban & Co. in 2015? We’ll have to wait and find out.
