Recruiting is never cut-and-dried. That’s usually a good axiom to follow.
Earlier: Take the case of Trevon Duval, the No. 1 point guard in the 2017 class. Earlier this afternoon, Andrew Slater, a national recruiting analyst for 247Sports, reported that Duval was unofficially visiting Duke today.
Naturally, this made Duke fans very happy, After all, Duval is one of the top targets left on Duke’s board. But the blue-chip recruit is now denying he was ever on campus today in the first place.
Here is the tweet from Duval’s account.
Lol I'm not visiting Duke

Now, there was Slater’s report, and also this image, supposedly from Duval’s personal Snapchat and captured by a Harry Giles fan page. It shows Duval posting a snap with a filter for Durham, N.C.
Here’s the shot.

So was Duval really at Duke, and this is just misdirection? Or did Slater get this one wrong?
We’ll find out soon.
Update: Perhaps we have an answer here. This is from Adam Zagoria.
Was told Trevon Duval spoke with the Duke staff on the phone today but he did not visit

If true, it makes sense.
