Grayson Allen did not play well for Duke Tuesday night against Kentucky. After a stellar start to the season, the Blue Devils’ sophomore struggled against the Wildcats, scoring six points on 2 for 11 shooting while turning the ball over four times.
The 6-foot-5, 200-pound guard especially seemed to struggle against Kentucky’s length, continuously getting his shot blocked and altered when he tried to drive into the lane.
At one point in the game, Allen tried something else – flopping. ESPN college basketball analyst Jay Williams, a former star for the Blue Devils, called out Allen tonight for doing this.
He will get better. Kid is super talented. https://t.co/9eMDxKSA9y

This was the play. Williams said Allen has to be stronger with the ball and stop worrying about getting a call from an official. He also needs to realize he’s not going to be able to throw down dunks and finger-rolls against a tall, athletic frontline.
Duke (2-1) is set to play VCU Friday night. The Blue Devils need Allen to show up in that one.
