Duke has a big Valentine’s Day match-up against Virginia Tech coming up, and its unclear if the Blue Devils will have Marvin Bagley III for it.
Marvin Bagley sustained a knee injury during the first half of last week’s game against North Carolina. He played 39 minutes in that game, scoring 15 points and grabbing 16 rebounds.
Bagley has been one of the most impressive performers in all of college basketball this season. He leads the Blue Devils with 21.2 points and 11.4 rebounds per game.
Duke has been without its star big man since the 82-78 loss in Chapel Hill, however. He missed this weekend’s game against Georgia Tech, an 80-69 Duke win.
As Duke jockeys for position atop the ACC, it has two big games in the next few days. First Virginia Tech travels to Cameron coming off of its dramatic upset of conference leader UVA.
On Sunday, Duke has a road trip to Clemson. The Tigers have been one of the biggest surprises in all of college basketball at 20-4, with a 9-3 mark in ACC play.
Clemson currently sits a game up on Duke for second place in the conference. Clearly, Mike Krzyzewski and company would love to get Bagley back in time for that game.
As of now, his status is up in the air. His teammate Wendell Carter Jr., another impressive freshman for the Blue Devils, says that he has not practiced this week.
No official word on his status for tomorrow, but Wendell Carter says Marvin Bagley III hasn’t been practicing this week.

That certainly isn’t a great sign for tomorrow night’s game. However, it seems like it will be a true game-time decision.
Marques Bolden will likely start again in Bagley’s place if he can’t go. He scored eight points and grabbed six boards against Georgia Tech.
Duke is a 10.5 point favorite over Virginia Tech at most sportsbooks, per OddsShark. Tomorrow’s game in Durham tips off at 7 p.m. ET, and will be broadcast on ESPN2.
