In early July, we learned that Pittsburgh is planning to retire All-Pro wideout Larry Fitzgerald’s jersey during the 2013 season. Fitzgerald, despite only playing two seasons for the Panthers, is easily the school’s most notable alum in the NFL today, being named to the Pro Bowl seven times during his impressive career.
Yesterday, the school announced that the ceremony will take place at the program’s ACC opener against Florida State on Labor Day.
It’s a nice gesture by the school to recognize one of its greats. Maybe it’ll spark the team to challenge the 12th-ranked Seminoles.
