Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston may have had a worse season statistically in 2014 than he did in 2013, and he certainly did lose the head-to-head battle with Oregon signal-caller Marcus Mariota in last week’s Rose Bowl. But according to ESPN NFL Draft analyst Todd McShay, he’s still the best at his position in the country. McShay also believes that he’s the best player in the entire draft.
McShay, speaking on ESPN Wednesday, said that if this were just a decision about on-field ability, Winston would be at the top of the list. Why? Because he can make the NFL throws that others can’t.
Will Winston actually go No. 1 overall to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? It’s certainly possible, given their needs. We’re still a long ways from April 30, however.
