Mario Edwards Jr. arrived at Florida State as one of the most hyped up defensive linemen in recent memory. The Denton, Texas product was rated by Rivals.com as the No. 1 defensive tackle in the 2012 class and the No. 3 player overall, the highest rating for a defensive tackle since 2002.
Edwards hasn’t quite lived up to the lofty expectations. He’s been a solid player–a third-team All-ACC performer in 2013–but many thought he’d have accomplished more based on the credentials he came to Tallahassee with.
Perhaps Edwards has taken a step forward this offseason.
The reaction by the players says it all; you’d be hard pressed to find a more impressive showing during a drill than that.
