He might be headed back to Florida.
On Friday afternoon news leaked that Jimbo Fisher was leaving Florida State for Texas A&M.
The union had been reported for weeks, but Wayne McGahee of TD Online broke the news that Fisher resigned his position with the Seminoles.
With Fisher’s departure, who is the favorite to land the open Florida State job?
According to McGahee, Willie Taggart is Florida State’s first option.
With Fisher gone, FSU will turn its focus to Oregon coach Willie Taggart. USA Today reported Wednesday that the administration has already started its vetting process with Taggart.
He has been at Oregon for one season with a 7-5 record after the Ducks went 4-8 a season ago, and has a 47-50 overall record.
Taggart knows Florida well, having recruited the state when he coached South Florida from a 2-win team to a 10-win team in just four seasons.
Will he head back to Florida after just one season at Oregon?
