Peter Sirmon has been tabbed to lead Louisville’s defense, but the new Cardinals’ coordinator could pay dividends in recruiting. His son Jackson and nephew Jacob Sirmon are notable recruits.
Sirmon’s son Jackson is a three-star outside linebacker. He committed to Washington a few weeks ago, joining his cousin Jacob, who is one of the nation’s top 2018 quarterback recruits. Jacob Sirmon has been a Washington commit for over a year, but he tells the Courier-Journal that he is interested in a possible visit to U of L, and has been following Bobby Petrino and Lamar Jackson and the Louisville offense.
Jacob Sirmon said he thinks it would be fun at some point, time permitting, to go to Louisville “and visit my uncle,” for a game, junior day or camp, but that such a trip would depend on his high school football schedule.
Jacob Sirmon did say that otherwise he has “absolutely” been interested in Louisville. Coach Bobby Petrino’s offense and quarterback Lamar Jackson have been “obviously quite successful,” he said.
Of course, he also reiterated his commitment to the Huskies.
“As his job I believe he will recruit me but will also respect our family relationship and my commitment. Overall, of course, I consider (the U of L offer) but really I’m just happy for him!”
Louisville came through with an offer back in December. Sirmon is ranked No. 3 among pro-style 2018 quarterbacks.
Jackson Sirmon is the No. 29 outside linebacker in the 2018 class.
It is unclear if Peter Sirmon’s job change will have a major impact here, but it is worth keeping an eye on for Louisville fans.
