Jon Beason, a former Miami linebacker and NFL player, donated $250,000 to the football program to go toward a new indoor facility.
According to ESPN’s Andrea Adelson, former Miami linebacker Jon Beason has donated $250,000 to the Miami football program, all of which is set to go toward a proposed indoor practice facility for the Hurricanes.
The project is reportedly set to cost $34 million, with $3 million still needed to break ground. Head coach Mark Richt, who donated $1 million toward the proposal last year, sent out a nice little thank you tweet earlier today:
Beason, who played for the Canes from 2003 to 2006, was drafted No. 25 overall by the Carolina Panthers in 2007. He spent ten years in the NFL as a linebacker with the Panthers and the Giants, and was a 3-time pro bowler from 2008 to 2010. He retired in February 2016.
