Fans who follow high school football recruiting know how important the city of Miami is to many schools’ recruiting efforts. One city high school, Miami-Jackson, is making history with its new football coaching hire, according to a report. Lakatriona “Bernice” Brunson, a former player in the Independent Women’s Football League, and a star of the reality show South Beach Tow, is set to take over as the school’s head coach, and will be the first female head coach in Florida high school football history. Luther Campbell, best known as “Uncle Luke” from 2 Live Crew, will serve as an assistant on her staff.

Football in Miami is pretty serious, so Miami-Jackson must believe in Brunson’s football bonafides. Campbell previously served as defensive coordinator at Miami Norland High School, and is a well-known booster for the University of Miami program. It is yet to be seen how Miami-Jackson performs with the new staff, but it will certainly be interesting to follow.
