NC State vs. UNC preview:
NC State has lost five of its last six games after losing to Miami on Saturday. After holding the Hurricanes to just 3 in the first half, the floodgates opened in the second half and the Wolfpack lost 27-13. It was a humiliating defeat for a defense that has been pretty stout most of the year. NC State will have to have its best performance of the year if it wants to take down UNC, but it’s very possible.
UNC bounced back from its loss to Duke with a dominating performance over The Citadel last weekend, winning 41-7. Quarterback Mitch Trubisky threw three touchdowns, and the Tar Heels defense forced a season-high four turnovers. Four a team that has relied on its offense to outscore opponents, it was nice to see the defense play up to its potential.
NC State vs. UNC prediction:
This is a gut pick, but I’m taking NC State in the upset. The Wolfpack showed they’re capable of competing with the big boys when they took Clemson to overtime, and NC State should be able to shut down the run and make UNC one-dimensional on offense. It’s close, but the Wolfpack are able to end the season on a high note.
