Over the past year and a half, P.J. Hairston’s basketball career has taken him from North Carolina to Texas to back to North Carolina.
The shooting guard was dismissed from the Tar Heels’ program in 2013 following an arrest. Hairston spent the 2013-14 season playing for the Texas Legends of the NBA Developmental League. Tonight, the Charlotte Hornets selected the sharpshooter with the No. 26 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.
Hairston’s former teammate in Chapel Hill, Marcus Paige, tweeted out his support following the selection.
I’m officially a Hornets fan! All day #FreePJ
