As amazing as March Madness can be for college basketball fans, it’s a very bittersweet time for college basketball players. Every player on every team has hopes of achieving a great deal in the NCAA Tournament, and when those goals aren’t met, it’s often hard to swallow. Syracuse forward C.J. Fair, who was vocal about his desire to return to the Final Four this season, is a perfect example.
Regardless of how things ended for Fair, he accomplished a great deal in his four years with the Orange. He led his team to the NCAA Tournament all four years, which included an Elite Eight run in 2012 and a Final Four run in 2013. Simply put, he will go down as one of the best players in school history. Monday morning, he took to Instagram to thank SU fans and reflect on his time in upstate New York.
Syracuse will miss Fair’s consistency – he improved his scoring average every year in an Orange uniform. But they’ll also miss his confident, laid-back demeanor – as we saw on Senior Day, he was one of the most beloved players in SU history.
