Jim and Juli Boeheim are in Washington D.C. this week with a number of other top basketball coaches—including Kevin Ollie, Tom Izzo, and Jay Wright—to do a leadership panel at the Pentagon. While in the nation’s capital, the coaches took a tour of the White House, and had the chance to meet President Barack Obama, as well as one of Syracuse basketball’s biggest fans, Vice President Joe Biden.
According to Syracuse.com’s Donna Ditota, Biden was extremely excited to see Boeheim, so much so that President Obama made a joke about his enthusiasm:
At one point, Vice President Joe Biden wandered in. The Boeheims had met with Biden earlier in the day and posed for photos with him. Biden is a Syracuse law school graduate and a big Orange basketball fan. “The President said, ‘All Biden wants is to see Boeheim,'” Juli Boeheim recounted. “Everybody laughed. The President was very charming, very down-to-earth.”
Biden also took the chance to grab a picture with the Boeheims, which went up on his Twitter feed earlier.
