Syracuse fans – this is fair warning. The team you see take the floor next November will not resemble the one that started this past season 25-0 and earned a 3-seed in the NCAA Tournament. Not even close. Monday morning, it was reported by SI’s Pete Thamel that Orange sophomore foward Jerami Grant will be leaving the school to declare for this year’s NBA Draft. He joins freshman Tyler Ennis and senior C.J. Fair as former Orange stars looking to take the next step of their careers.

Grant saw his role increase greatly this past season, as he averaged just over 12 points per game and 6.8 boards per contest. A back injury limited him greatly in the final few weeks of the season, but it is not expected to affect him ahead of the draft workouts.
As for Syracuse, the Orange will return just two starters from last year’s squad – Trevor Cooney and Rakeem Christmas. We’ll see if Jim Boeheim has done enough on the recruiting trail to reload quickly.
