One of the best and longest tenured coaches in America agreed to a contract extension today. Frank Beamer, who has been at Virginia Tech since 1987 and has led the Hokies to a 224-109-2 record, agreed to a two year contract extension that will keep him in Blacksburg through the 2019 season. If Beamer stays at Va. Tech through the expiration of this deal, it would mean that he would be the Hokies’ head coach for a remarkable 32 years.

Of course, there’s no promise that the 67-year-old Beamer will stay at the school until his contract runs out. He has expressed in the past that he has given some thought to retirement, but if this is any indication, Beamer’s going to be around for a little while longer.
