Fred Hoiberg has done an excellent job building Iowa State into a consistent contender in the Big 12, and it sounds like he’s secured another big piece for the Cyclones in Greece native Giorgos Tsalmpouris.
Iowa State landed a commitment from 7-foot-1 Greece native Giorgos Tsalmpouris, a source confirms to @CBSSports. Will come over this summer.

The young lefty center was reportedly being targeted by professional clubs Olympiacos B.C. and Panathinaikos B.C. but instead chose to come develop in America. On the college side, Temple and Davidson were reportedly also interested. Judging by some highlights, he runs the floor very well for a 7-footer, and has nice touch around the hoop that many young centers don’t possess. Tsalmpouris does not turn 18 until June, so he is truly a young, raw talent, and it is exciting to see how he will impact the Cyclones this season.
