This isn’t what you want before a big game.
Kansas freshman forward Billy Preston will not play tonight in the Champions Classic against Kentucky, and the reason for his absence is a doozy.
According to a release from Kansas coach Bill Self, Preston was involved in a a single-car accident on campus. He was unharmed but his car had some damage.
After the accident was reported, KU administrators decided they “needed a clearer financial picture specific to the vehicle.”

If you need nay help translating, that means this: “We think this car might be illegal, and we want to cover ourselves if it is.”
Preston was a top-20 recruit out of Oak Hill Academy. Needless to say, his KU career is off to a terrible start, as he was suspended for the team’s opener on Friday for missing curfew and class.
