4-star power forward Silvio De Sousa committed to the Jayhawks.
Kansas just added its first recruit to its 2018 recruiting class, and he’s a good one.
4-star power forward Silvio De Sousa told the Lawrence Journal-World today that he committed to the Jayhawks on Sunday following an official visit.
According to Sousa, once he visited Kanas he knew it was the right fit.
“When I was there in Kansas, I couldn’t even express myself or how I was feeling,” De Sousa told the Journal-World. “When you love something, there’s no way you will describe it. I knew about their basketball but I didn’t know about the campus, the coaches and stuff like that. I felt like that was the place I wanted to be, the culture and the coaches were so great around me. That’s one of the things I’ve been looking for and I found that in them.”
Sousa, an Angolan native who has been living in Florida for the past four years, also had offers from Florida, LSU, Maryland and Florida State. The Terrapins were believed by most to be the favorite, so it’s a fairly surprising commitment.
Sousa is the No. 8 ranked power forward and the No. 30 ranked player in the nation, according to 247 Sports. He’s received comparisons to former Kansas standout Thomas Robinson in terms of his physical play.
