Mike Gundy turned 47 on Wednesday. The Oklahoma State football coach, who’s been known to bust a move or two, celebrated his birthday with a pretty awesome dance at his team’s practice.
Check out this video of Gundy dancing at a Cowboys practice. It’s pretty great:
Here’s how the dancing was set up, from NewsOk.com:
The surprise performance was set up by Wayne Bovenshcen, assistant director of the marching band, and Kristen Gundy.
Bovenschen has been with the OSU music department for 28 years. He said when Gundy was the Cowboys’ quarterback, the drumline would play along as the team walked from the locker room to the field during home game days.
Bovenschen thought it would be fitting to celebrate Gundy’s birthday with the old-time tradition. He said he had wanted to do something like this for the past two years.
Will Gundy be dancing after any Oklahoma State games this season? The Cowboys will start the 2014 season unranked, so expectations are likely a little lower than usual in Stillwater.
Oklahoma State opens its 2014 campaign Aug. 30 in Houston against Florida State. Surely, a dance party will break out if Gundy’s team wins that contest.
