Oklahoma just picked up a walk-on with a familiar name.
Norman (Okla.) North three-star wide receiver Drake Stoops is staying home to play for the Sooners.
The son of former Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops, Drake will be a preferred walk-on for OU, but he held scholarship offers elsewhere. Iowa, Ohio, Air Force, Arkansas State, Memphis, Western Kentucky and Youngstown State all offered the 5-foot-11, 175-pound receiver.
Stoops caught 200 passes for 3,390 yards and 39 touchdowns in his varsity career.
Stoops is the No. 20 player in Oklahoma, according to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings.
