Jase McClellan, a 2020 running back recruit, committed to Oklahoma back in late July. Now, he’s the top player in the state of Texas.
The Aledo native announced his pledge to the Sooners during an unofficial visit to Norman on July 29.
While McClellan already had big offers from all over, at the time he was unranked, as he is so early in his recruiting cycle.
247Sports has started to assign rankings to members of the class of 2020, and McClellan has already received some pretty good news. He is the top player in Texas in the class of 2020, based on today’s rankings update.
The site has McClellan ranked No. 12 overall in the class, and No. 2 among running backs.
He is the first player to commit to OU, but given how early it is, the Sooners are off to a very good start. Now, Lincoln Riley and company have to hold on for a few years.
McClellan chose Oklahoma over offers from Baylor, Georgia, Houston, Illinois, Miami, Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Oregon, SMU, Southern Oregon, TCU and Texas A&M.
