Oklahoma football fans are beyond optimistic for the 2014 season, and the biggest reason is freshman quarterback Trevor Knight, who will enter his sophomore year as the starting signal-caller for the Sooners after lighting up Alabama for 348 passing yards and four touchdowns in the Sugar Bowl. But for a brief moment Tuesday morning, OU fans thought they were going to have another season of uncertainly behind center.
Whoever runs Oklahoma’s Twitter account pulled an April Fools’ joke on fans, claiming that senior tight end Blake Bell, who quarterbacked the team much of this past season, would be returning to his original position.
Of course, upon clicking the photo, supporters were informed that it was, in fact, a joke.
Bell had his ups and downs as starting quarterback at OU, but struggled against elite competition. He made his decision to move to tight end after this past season. As much as fans adore the “Belldozer” in Norman, they’re probably a bit relieved.
