The days of substance mattering much more than style are long gone — college football teams not only want to win, but they want to look great winning. Schools are gearing up with crazy shoes, gloves, helmets, jerseys, and now, facemasks.
In the past few months, we’ve seen Georgia State, Arizona, Notre Dame, Baylor, Miami, and Minnesota all get new facemasks with far more complex cages than we’ve ever seen before. The idea is to up the intimidation factor, particularly of linemen, although we’re not sure whether or not the tactic works. Either way, the Oklahoma Sooners decided to follow the latest trend as well:
