Oklahoma linebacker Frank Shannon’s attorney Aletia Timmons had extremely strong words for the university during a 20 minute press conference about the status of her client’s case, saying that the school has “failed” her client.
Shannon was suspended for the year by Oklahoma after a university investigation found him guilty of sexual assault, although no charges were filed against Shannon. The Sooners linebacker is appealing the decision, which allows him to attend class and work with the team. Timmons also says that Shannon is eligible to play, though he has been removed from Oklahoma’s depth chart.
According to Timmons, Shannon has passed a polygraph test about the alleged assault, and the evidence that Oklahoma has is “insufficient.” Instead of leaving the program, Shannon has decided to stay on the sideline as a member of the team as a silent protest.
