Montel Harris is the leading active rushing in the FBS, having racked up 3,735 yards on the ground as a Boston College Golden Eagle. However, he won’t be suiting up in Chestnut Hill this fall.
ESPN is reporting that Harris, who sat out the 2011 season due to injury, is taking his talents to Temple, where he has been cleared to play immediately. Harris was recently dismissed from the BC football squad for “repeated violation of team rules”, yet still has a year of elibility remaining. Harris graduated from Boston College this spring, and plans to take graduate-level classes at Temple.
The loss of Harris is big for Boston College, but he will be a welcome sight in Philadelphia. This will be the Owls’ first season in the Big East since 2004, and Harris should help them compete and win immediately.
