Former Boston College basketball player Garland Owens is transferring and switching sports.
After a career on the hardwood at Boston College, Garland Owens is apparently going to finish out his college eligibility on the gridiron.
Owens, s 6-foot-5, 222-pound Gaithersburg, Md. native, is heading to Maryland to play football next season.
He posted this photo on Instagram yesterday.
Owens will reportedly play tight end for the Terps.
On the court, he played four seasons for the Eagles. His best year came in 2015-16, when he averaged 4.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 21.9 minutes per game.
Owens did play football at Rockville (Md.) Magruder High School, so he has some experience in the sport. It will be interesting to see what kind of transition he makes.
