After Denard Robinson’s Jacksonville Jaguars lost to the Detroit Lions in a preseason game last night, Robinson met with people in the media, some of whom covered Robinson while he was a star at Michigan. Robinson is a pretty outspoken guy, and he proved that again last night, as he responded to a question about Michigan State exactly the way that you would expect a Wolverine to respond: by calling the Spartans Michigan’s “little brothers.”
“As a former Wolverine, how tough was it to see Michigan State win not only the Big Ten but the Rose Bowl?” Robinson was asked following the Jaguars 13-12 loss to the Lions Friday night. “That had to sting a little bit.”
“It did sting,” Robinson answered. “But at the end of the day, the Big Ten won the Rose bowl. It was good that they won it, our little brothers won it, and pulled it out for the Big Ten.”
It’s always fun to see pro athletes take jabs at their alma mater’s rivals. This isn’t the first time that Robinson has made this exact joke at Michigan State’s expense, and we’d be shocked if he never makes this joke again.
