Minnesota guard Dupree McBrayer tripped Michigan State star Miles Bridges, and Spartan fans responded with Grayson Allen chants.
So this is going to be a thing now.
McBrayer’s trip doesn’t look as blatant as some of the Allen indiscretions from the last few years, and he was called for a foul as Bridges went falling towards the hoop. Still, he caught the full brunt of Michigan State’s student section “The Izzone” after the play.
The chant was incredibly clear.
Grayson Allen is a very good player, and played a key role in a Duke national championship, but as of now, his college basketball legacy is going to be about his trips and kicks. Last night’s collision with Florida State coach Dennis Gates, which definitely didn’t look blatant and Gates passionately defended Allen for, proves it. Unfortunately, it is hard to give him the benefit of the doubt on anything, and now when anyone in the sport trips an opponent, Allen’s name is going to come up.
Michigan State leads Minnesota 39-17. Bridges leads all scorers with 16 points.
