College basketball, like most sports, is a game of inches. Never has it been more apparent than after watching Tuesday night’s finish between Michigan State and Iowa.
With the Spartans leading the Hawkeyes by two with five seconds to play in overtime, Iowa sophomore Mike Gesell drove the length of the court to attempt a potential game-tying layup. But three Spartans chased him to the rim, with senior Keith Appling getting a hand on the shot. Check it out:
Michigan State now sits at 8-1 in the Big Ten, with its only loss coming to in-state rival Michigan. Iowa sits at 5-3.
