The NJIT Highlanders, a 2-5 team that has only been playing Division I basketball for a few seasons, have pulled off easily the most shocking win of the young college basketball season. NJIT knocked off 17th-ranked Michigan in Ann Arbor Saturday afternoon, 72-70. The Highlanders shot 59% from the field, including 11-of-17 from 3-point land. Michigan also shot well from distance, finishing 11-of-24, but it wasn’t enough. Here’s the final play of the game:
The result is a confusing one, considering the Wolverines have earned solid wins over both Oregon and Syracuse this year. It’s safe to say that Michigan’s NCAA Tournament resume took a huge hit today.
