When the college football season began back in August, the word “Clowney” equated with terror for opposing quarterbacks. Just over one month later, it’s become a punch line. After Clowney opted to sit out last week’s matchup against the Kentucky Wildcats due to injury, the criticism has been coming from all angles. Paul Finebaum called him “the biggest joke in college football” earlier today. Now, it’s ESPN analyst Desmond Howard taking a shot at the Gamecock star.

Keep in mind here that Howard did attend Michigan, which was on the other side of Clowney’s famous hit in last year’s Outback Bowl. Regardless, maybe Clowney should have sat out the 2013 season after all…
