One of the unique aspects of college football compared to the pro game is that multiple players can wear the same number — they just can’t be on the field at the same time. Often this results in doubly-cool jerseys where a fan has a number that represents both an offensive and defensive star.
However, there can be drawbacks on occasion, particularly if fans only know a player but their number rather than their name or face — Michigan’s Henry Poggi found that out recently:
To be fair to the fans, both Shane Morris (QB) and Poggi (DT) are freshmen, so the Michigan faithful haven’t been that exposed to them yet. Hopefully in a few years, that mistake will be far less common.
Pretty funny though.
