Regardless of your political affiliation, I think we can all agree that having the President of the United States name drop you for your athletic accomplishments is pretty cool. Today, during a speech at the University of Michigan regarding minimum wage laws, President Obama gave some praise to a few student-athletes on-hand and promised never to bet against the Wolverines again the future. He also made a joke about star player Nik Stauskas, which was not well-received by the crowd.

Obama talking student loans: “Stauskas has a contract coming up, he doesn’t have to worry about these things.” Crowd moans

The “contract” Obama is referring to is clearly one of the NBA variety – Stauskas saw his draft stock skyrocket this year as he became one of the best scorers in the Big Ten. That being said, UM fans would be sad to see him go, if he decided to leave early.
