Let’s face it — there is some absurd spending that goes on in college athletics. Yesterday, we outlined the waterfall that Alabama is installing in its locker room. Today, we have found yet another crazy example of frivolous spending in college football.
The Minnesota Golden Gophers play their football in TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, and apparently the home locker room is all swagged out. The official Minnesota football account tweeted out this Vine of an enormous flashing block “M” on the ceiling:

I can’t see how this is a necessity or a good investment at all — unless the football team is throwing some serious parties in the locker room (which would be awesome, by the way). However, I’m sure that recruits probably find it pretty cool.
