Last night, Northwestern basketball head coach Chris Collins earned his first ever Big Ten coaching win when his Wildcats team upset No. 23 Illinois in Evanston. The Wildcats won because of their fantastic effort — they gave their blood, sweat, tears, and apparently teeth, to the cause.
Less than four minutes into the game, Northwestern guard Sanjay Lumpkin went crashing to the floor, and unfortunately his teeth connected with the hardwood and not all of them stayed in in his mouth. He was removed from the game, but only briefly — he still ended up playing a whopping 38 minutes on the night:
After the game, Lumpkin tweeted about losing the tooth — he took a great team-first approach to it:
Glad I didn’t lose a tooth for no reason. Did it for the homies. Love my squad.
