Jets linebacker Darron Lee claims he was jumped Saturday night inside an Ohio bar.
According to Connor Hughes of NJ.com, Lee explained Monday on Periscope that he was leaving to get in an Uber when a stranger jumped him.
Lee went on to elaborate on the stream, saying quote:
“Midway from the exit of the bar, I get hit and tackled simultaneously. Have no idea who it was. I wasn’t in an argument with anybody. I hadn’t said a word to anybody. Just leaving the bar to go home, and I get punched and tackled.
Lee escaped with a only few bruises and didn’t retaliate, the linebacker only kept repeating, “I didn’t hit you.”
In a tweet that has since been deleted, Lee said bouncers eventually removed him from the bar and he thanked police for “sparing a young man’s life tonight.”
The Jets selected the Columbus area native in the first round of the 2015 draft out of Ohio State. Despite an ankle injury sidelining Lee three games, he finished the season with 73 tackles and a sack.
