Kirk Herbstreit is making his predictions for the 2017 season.
ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit will call next Saturday’s huge opener between Alabama and Florida State, and if he’s right about how the 2017 campaign is going to pan out, he’ll be watching two of the four eventual College Football Playoff teams take the field.
Herbstreit, earlier this week, issued his annual predictions. His playoff foursome consists of four heavyweights.
Here’s what Herbstreit is predicting:
- Ohio State
- Florida State
Herbstreit believes that Alabama, Ohio State, USC and Florida State will be part of the event. The Buckeyes will then defeat the Crimson Tide to win it all.

Whichever team loses the opener between the Crimson Tide and the Seminoles will likely need to run the table to be part of the playoff – since no two-loss team has ever reached it thus far.
