It was Jan. 12, 2015 when Jason Garrett first noticed the player he was going to take No. 4 overall in the 2016 NFL Draft.
Ohio State was playing Oregon in the College Football Playoff title game and the contest was played at AT&T Stadium, the home of Garrett’s Dallas Cowboys. So the head coach was in attendance.
Garrett was sitting with former Cowboys’ star and NFL Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith.
“Watch No. 15,” Smith told Garrett.

Elliott apparently left a pretty good impression on Garrett.
How could he not have?
The former Buckeyes’ star rushed for 246 yards and four touchdowns on 36 carries, leading OSU to a 42-20 win, giving Urban Meyer his first national championship with the Columbus program.
Will Elliott lead Garrett’s team to any championships?
