Ohio State sophomore wide receiver Austin Mack will be starting Thursday – according to his mom.
Austin Mack was a 2016 recruit for Ohio State, and during his freshman year, he only caught two passes for 15 yards. He figures to factor more into the offense this year.
Friday, Mack’s mother, Shannon, dropped the news on Twitter that Austin will be starting for Ohio State against Indiana in Thursday night’s opener.
It’s common for Ohio State’s coaching staff to call the parents of new starters before they debut – so this actually isn’t that weird.

Ohio State does not have the luxury of playing a cupcake to start off the season – as the Buckeyes are thrust right into a Big Ten league game. Mack will need to be a big target for quarterback J.T. Barrett if Ohio State is to prevail.
