Despite the recent setbacks, Ohio State football had back-to-back impressive campaigns, posting a 24-2 overall record since the start of the 2012 season. Naturally, Buckeyes fans have been supporting their team through it all.
In a recent study, Nielsen measured what percent of the local population has watched, attended, or listened to their hometown college football team in the past 12 months. The study showed that Ohio State, which also boasted the fourth best college basketball fan base, came out on top for college football. OSU beat out Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee and Oklahoma for the distinction.

As was the case with basketball, four of the five programs don’t have a competing NFL squad vying for their attention. The majority here have also had a great deal of success – either in the past or the present.
