Ever since Braxton Miller announced that he intends on returning to Ohio State in 2015, there’s been an overly optimistic hypothetical question making the rounds on the Buckeye message boards.
Who starts at quarterback next fall if J.T. Barrett leads Ohio State to a national championship this season?
It’s an interesting debate to have for Buckeye fans, who are likely in need of some uplifting discussion following the Miller injury news. But it’s pretty crazy to even think about the possibility of that hypothetical happening. It does raise an interesting point, though: Ohio State will have incredible depth at the quarterback position next season if Miller does return.
That doesn’t seem to bother one of the country’s top quarterback recruits.

In an interview with Ari Wasserman of Cleveland.com, Torrance Gibson, a four-star recruit in the 2015 class, said he’d love to learn under Miller for a season at Ohio State.
“Being mentored by Braxton Miller, that’d be pretty awesome,” Gibson said. “Being mentored by one of the best quarterbacks that ever came to Ohio State, man that would be something. It would be great if I decided to go to Ohio State.”
Gibson, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound prospect from Florida, is expected to make his college decision in October. Ohio State is the favorite.
The Buckeyes open the season Aug. 30 against Navy in Baltimore.
