Yesterday, Ohio State wide receiver Evan Spencer dropped some locker room material for, well, pretty much any opponent the Buckeyes might be facing in their bowl game this season. Spencer told reporters that OSU would “wipe the field” with Alabama or “whoever” when speaking about the confidence he has in his team. As you can imagine, the backlash was swift. As you can also imagine, coach Urban Meyer is not happy about the comments.
Urban Meyer on Evan Spencer’s comments: “I’m very disappointed. I can’t stand that.”

Meyer said it’s poor sportsmanship and Spencer won’t be speaking with the media for a long time.

While Spencer was clearly just trying to show the faith he has in his guys, he probably went a bit too far when he uttered the words “wipe the field.” Is Meyer’s reaction too harsh, or is he justified in putting a temporary media ban on Spencer?
