The former Penn State quarterback played well in New York’s preseason game.
Christian Hackenberg has often struggled since getting drafted by the New York Jets.
The former star Penn State quarterback looked good in the Jets’ preseason game on Saturday night, though.
Hackenberg, 22, completed 18 of 25 passes for 127 yards, taking the majority of the snaps for New York against Tennessee.
Hackenberg looks light years more comfortable with his mechanics compared to last summer. Ball coming out nicely tonight. Good sign. #NYJ

New York head coach Todd Bowles was impressed.
“He’s got some things to build off,” Bowles told reporters. “He’s got some positives. He’s got some negatives that we’ve got to correct. To be expected in the first game. He had some shots down the field that they took away by coverage. He went to a second read and got rid of the ball.”
The Jets next play against Detroit on Saturday.
