Vanderbilt fans who watched former head coach James Franklin build up the program to respectability and then bolt for Penn State probably want a little payback. If it were up to new head coach Derek Mason, the Commodores would at least have the opportunity. Mason, while speaking at an event in Nashville this past weekend, made it clear that he wants to play the Nittany Lions in the coming years. He basically issued a challenge:
New @VandyFootball coach, Derek Mason’s message to Penn State “If James Franklin wants to play, we will play any time and place, anywhere.”

Perhaps Franklin will take him up on the offer. While the schedule is already set for both schools for 2014, both Vandy and PSU have one open spot in both 2015 and 2016. We’ll see if it actually happens.
